Our round at the River Course

Jon thinks this was the River course.

About the River Course

Blackwolf Run opened in 1988 as a single 18, designed by Pete Dye with Herb Kohler. When a second 18 was added, the original holes were split between the River and Meadow Valleys courses.

Se Ri Pak won the 1998 U.S. Women's Open here in a playoff that went to sudden death, and Na Yeon Choi won in 2012. Both were played on a composite of River holes 1 to 4 and 14 to 18 with the Meadow Valleys back nine.

We played Blackwolf Run the day before Whistling Straits in June 2018. Jon thinks it was the River course.

What stands out

  • Follows the Sheboygan River through about five miles of valley and bluff.
  • Two par 5s of 620 yards or more from the Black tees.
  • Its holes 1 to 4 and 14 to 18 are the original 1988 Blackwolf Run.
