About Bandon

Developer Mike Keiser opened the first course, David McLay Kidd's Bandon Dunes, in 1999. Tom Doak's Pacific Dunes followed in 2001, then Coore and Crenshaw's Bandon Trails in 2005 and Doak and Jim Urbina's Old Macdonald, a tribute to C.B. Macdonald's template holes, in 2010.

We spent May 29 to 31, 2018 there. Which courses we played on which day is lost to history, so this page covers the whole trip.

What stands out

  • Pacific Dunes: par 71 with five par 3s, including back-to-back par 3s at 10 and 11.
  • Old Macdonald: every hole is named for a classic template (Redan, Biarritz, Cape, Eden, and more).
  • Bandon Trails: starts in the dunes, climbs into the forest, and finishes back in the dunes.
